Ionic Foot Baths

There are so many ways we can help the body with its natural processes especially when it comes to detoxing.

Our bodies are incredibly complex and does a ton for us all on its own daily, if not minute by minute to keep us thriving!

Sometimes our bodies get bogged down with the sheer amount of toxins/ waste that needs to be removed. This can happen especially if our bodies are overtaxed and under nourished.

Ionic foot baths are a gentle way to aid the body in detoxing.

By using the power of electrical frequencies, this relaxing method can stimulate and pull toxins out of the pores of your feet that can bind up the works.

What is an Ionic Foot Bath?

Ionic foot baths are used as a non-invasive therapy for detox. This modality has no harmful side effects and is completely safe (for most). It can help your body detox even if normal elimination pathways are compromised.

How do they work?

An ionic foot bath is essentially placing an electrical array in a water and salt solution. The array emits a small electrical current through the conductive water. This current ionizes the water by splitting the H20 into OH- an H+ ions. By positively charging the water it can attract negatively charged toxins in your body. The charged water can bind to any heavy metals and toxins in your body, like a magnet pulling them through the pores in your feet!

What are the benefits?

Ionic Foot Bath Detoxification BenefitsHere are some benefits that can come from regular ionic foot baths:

  • Improvement in lymph circulation, like massage
  • Relieves headaches/migraines – helps with brain fog
  • Increasing natural energy levels
  • Improves sleep quality & relaxation
  • Strengthening immune system
  • Relieves muscle/joint pain and swelling
  • Reduction in glyphosate
  • Reduction in heavy metals

What should I expect?

The color of the water will change no matter who is using it. It’s a natural process of the ionization with the water solution along with the metal plates of the array and as the toxins release from the body. It will typically change to a murky brown color but has been known to change colors depending on the season as well!

The intriguing part is what’s on top of the water itself.

Foams and flecks of all sorts of colors will be produced. These are what we’re more interested in. They tell us what kinds of toxins are being expelled from the body from what systems. The different colors are correlated with the meridians in our body. Therefor giving us more insight into just what areas of our bodies are being stimulated to detox.

When your feet are submerged in the foot bath you may feel a tingling sensation that is very slight and not painful.

Colors and Meanings of the Water:

Yellow/Green: Detoxing from kidneys, bladder, urinary tract- indications of gynecological or prostate disorders

Orange: Detoxing from joints or arteries – indications of arthritis, gout, neuropathy, inflammation

Brown: Detoxing from liver, lungs, tobacco, or cellular debris – smokers, around secondhand smoke, or air pollutants

Dark Green or Black: Detoxing from gallbladder or liver – may be associated with gallstones, acid reflux, weak immune system, or nausea

Red Flecks: a sign of blood clot material – bruising, hypertension or cold hands and feet

White Foam: Detoxing from the lymphatic system or lymph nodes – may indicate menstrual disorders tender lymph nodes or clogged skin by an allergy

Black Flecks: Detoxing of heavy metals – chronic fatigue or memory problems.

How often should you do an Ionic Foot Bath?

This detox therapy is meant to be done in 15 – 30-minute sessions. Most often done in bundles of 4-5 sessions spread throughout the month at first.

Once someone has done 10 sessions, we typically want to take about a two week break to give the body time to recover from detoxing. The goal of this is to gently stimulate the body to detox and not to push it too hard too fast.

Slow and gentle is the best way for most detox treatments.

After the first initial bundle of sessions, we can do another bundle of sessions until we hit a nice rhythm for maintenance. Maintenance will look differently for everyone based on their own needs, working with a practitioner will help you hone in on a sustainable rhythm.

After Care:

After your Ionic foot bath some may experience detox symptoms that are relatively mild. Some side effects include small headaches and light fatigue. Drinking plenty of water with electrolytes before and certainly after will help with the detoxing.

Over the next day or two you may feel the detox effects as the body continues to flush toxic waste through your lymphatic system. Including other means of detox like; sauna, lymphatic massage, dry brushing, and deep diaphragmatic breathing can help avoid negative detox symptoms days after are incredibly beneficial.

Am I a good candidate for Ionic Foot Baths?

As with all treatments you should always confirm with your medical practitioner first to make sure it would be a safe route for you.

There are some people who should take extra consideration.

Those who have blood sugar regulation issues like Diabetics. Those on blood pressure medication or if you’ve had any type of colon resection. This therapy is rather gentle but with all therapies we need to make sure it’s used appropriately so you can gain the benefit with no adverse effects.

All in all, there are so many interesting and wonderful ways to take care of our bodies and to provide ourselves a little bit of selfcare along the way. These foot baths can be very beneficial for the simple fact, that you are taking 30 minutes out of your day to provide support to your body.
